1. The Union Government has launched the first ever across-the-river survey in River Ganga to determine the population of aquatic life, including that of the endangered Gangetic dolphin.The first of its kind survey is being conducted by National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) through Wildlife Institute of India (WII) under Namami Gange programme.



2.Scientists have claimed that they have discovered oldest fossils on Earth in rocks from Quebec, Canada. Carbon dating techniques suggest that these rocks are at least 3.8 billion years old and might even be 4.3 billion years old.


3.Haryana Government(Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar) has announced Tirtha Darshan Scheme under which senior citizens above 60 years of age in the state will be able to go on a pilgrimage within the country at government expense.


4.For the first time in 16 years, Odisha has achieved highest decline in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR).It was 96 per 1000 births in 2000 has been reduced to 40 in 2015-16. This decline is far better than the national average.


5.The ‘Destination North East-2017’ festival has started in Chandigarh from March 6, 2017.


6.The National Conference on Innovation in Educational Administration has started at Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra in New Delhi on March 5, 2017. The 3-day conference has organized by National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA). 


7.Dr. Thomas Earl Starzl  the renowned American surgeon has recently passed away Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He performed the world’s first human liver transplant and has often been referred to as “the father of modern transplantation”.


8.The National conference on Jal Kranti Abhiyan will be organized by the Ministry of Water Resources and River Development in New Delhi on March 7, 2017.
