1. Odisha Government will soon launch “Durgama Anchalare Malaria Nirakaran” (DAMAN), a special programme to prevent the spread of malaria in remote areas of Ganjam district.

2. The government has imposed a penalty of USD 264 million (about Rs 1,700 crore)on Reliance Industries Ltd and its partners. The penalty has been imposed for producing less than the targeted natural gas from eastern offshore KG-D6 fields in 2015-16.

3. State Bank of India (SBI) launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, ‘SBI Gram Seva’, which will work in the areas of health, education, environment and rural infrastructure.
SBI will adopt five villages each from 10 village panchayatswith each village getting around Rs 2.40 crore over the next three years

4. Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)-promoted India International Exchange (India INX) has got Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI’s) approval to launch Gold Options. India INX will launch trading in gold options from August 30, 2017.

6.  India (New Delhi) will host the next steering committee meeting of the proposed 1,814 kilometre-long Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline senior officials on both sides confirmed

7. India's first museum on Partition of the Indian subcontinent will open this week in Amritsar Punjab, as India and Pakistan celebrate 70 years as independent nations.

8. The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval to the MoU between India and Sweden on cooperation in the field of Intellectual Property (IPRs).

9. The government approved a new metro rail policy for expanding the metro network across various cities in the country.
#At present, metro projects with a total length of more than 350km are operational in eight cities- Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Gurugram.
#Metro projects are under way in Hyderabad, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Lucknow.

10. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi launched the ‘Indira Canteen’ scheme,in Bengaluru dedicated to former Prime minister Indira Gandhi- a state government initiative to provide food at low cost to cater to the urban poor.

11. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has conferred the ‘best performance award’ for 2015-16 and 2016-17 to Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank (KVGB) for its work in the field of credit-linking joint liability groups (JLGs).

19.The Union Cabinet has approved creation of a single corpus fund non-lapsable known as Madhyamik and Uchchtar Shiksha Kosh (MUSK).
Under it, all proceeds of secondary and higher education cess will be credited and utilised for the government’s schemes in education sector.


20. According to a recent study by climate researchers, aeroplanes may be ejecting significant amounts of black carbon (BC) which in turn is affecting monsoon,  depleting the ozone layer and quickening glacier melt.
The study was conducted by climate researchers from multiple institutions in India including from the Indian Institute of Science and ISRO’s Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.



21. Scientists from the University of Toronto, Canada have developed an injectable tissue bandage dubbed as AngioChip, smaller than a postage stamp that can repair damaged hearts.

22. The Public procurement portal Government eMarketplace (GeM) and industry body Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have signed a MoU to establish GeMSamvad, a GeM -Industry forum.
GeMSamvad aims to create awareness about online purchase of goods and services by government agencies and departments.
