1. American Navy’s amphibious dock landing ship USS Pearl Harbor arrived in Goa on 24th Aug 2017 as part of defense cooperation between the two countries. It is the American Ship USS Pearl Harbor first visit to India.

2. Defence Minister Arun Jaitley has launched BEML’s third Line Ultra Modern Metro Manufacturing Facility announced on 26th Aug 2017. It has been launched to enhance the production of metro cars for the forthcoming metro projects in India.
Jaitley also inaugurated the indigenously designed and developed biggest ever diesel excavator BE1800D and crawler dozer BD475-1 and T-72 hull.

3. Assam forest department deployed around 10000 security and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel, 20 elephants and 20 excavators to evict 1400 families that have been encroaching upon Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary on the northeastern fringe of Guwahati.

4. Supertech has received green nod for developing a sports-centric housing project in Greater Noida. It would have an investment cost of Rs1,130 crore

 The theme of the conference is peace, progress, and prosperity

8.  The country's largest telecom services provider, Bharti Airtel, entered into a partnership with Symantec Corp, the world’s leading cyber security company, to serve the growing cyber security requirements of businesses in India

9.  Mercedes' British Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton registered his 58th career race win after claiming the Belgian Grand Prix title.
He recently won the British Grand Prix for the fifth time

10. PV Sindhu won the Silver medal in World Badminton Championship 2017. She lost the historic match against Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in an epic final, in Glasgow, Scotland. 

11. The Indian Commodity Exchange (ICEX) has launched world’s first diamond futures contracts to provide exporters with a hedging tool.

12. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences inaugurated the Ocean Forecasting System for Indian Ocean countries Comoros, Madagascar, and Mozambique.
It was unveiled at the third Ministerial Meeting of Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System for Asia and Africa (RIMES) held at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

13. The DRDO has signed Rs.17,000 crore deal with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) for producing advanced medium—range surface to air missile (MRSAM) system for Indian Army by 2020. The deal envisages develping 40 firing units and around 200 missiles.

14. The Union Finance Ministry’s Revenue Department has imposed a five year anti-dumping duty on Sodium Nitrite imports from China
Countries impose anti-dumping duties to safeguard domestic industry from surge in below-cost imports. It is not a measure to restrict import or cause an unjustified increase in cost of products. Anti-dumping duty is imposed inorder to ensure fair trade and provide a level-playing field to the domestic industry.

15. India football team won the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-15 Championship at the ANFA Complex.

16. The Niti Aayog has favoured conducting synchronised two-phase Lok Sabha and assembly elections from 2024 in “national interest”. All elections in India should happen in a free, fair and synchronised manner to ensure minimum “campaign mode” disruption to governance, the government think tank said in its report released recently.

17. Uttar Pradesh has joined central Government’s e-Market portal. It will now be making all its procurements of goods and services through the central portal.
It aims to ensure that public procurement of goods and services in India worth more than Rs. 5 lakh crore annually is carried out through the online platform for transparency and to eliminate corruption

18. The government has set itself a target of 100 GW of solar power by 2022, of which 60 GW is to come from utilities and 40 GW from rooftop solar installations. While the 60 GW target seems achievable, the country is lagging behind on the target set for rooftop solar.

19. Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh addressed a gathering at the Sankalp Se Siddhi program in Varanasi. The programme was organized by ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kanpur, Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Faizabad and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Varanasi.

21. Seven Indian companies have made it to the latest Clean200 list, featuring the world’s largest publicly traded companies making significant revenue from clean energy.
The Carbon Clean200 report, compiled by non-profit organisation As You Sow and Corporate Knights, was topped by Munich-headquartered Siemens AG,
The seven companies on the list released earlier this month are Suzlon Energy (Rank 55), Bharat Heavy Electricals(Rank 85), Tata Chemicals (Rank 144), Exide Industries (Rank 155), IDFC Ltd (167), Thermax Ltd (Rank 169), and Havells India (Rank 200).

22. trio of scientists Bell who defied Albert Einstein by proving that quantum particles, when correlated in pairs, interact with each other regardless of their distance, will be honoured with the John Stewart Bell Prize from the University of Toronto

23. PM Modi asked people to undertake the 'Cleanliness is Service' or 'Swachchta Hi Seva' campaign to promote the creation of an environment of cleanliness while marking the third anniversary 'Swachch Bharat' programme.

24. Nitasha Biswas crowned first Miss TransQueen India.
Nitasha Biswas, a transwoman from Kolkata, on 27 August 2017 was crowned the first Miss TransQueen India. The competition was held in Gurugram, Haryana.
Miss TransQueen India 2017 is the first ever transgender beauty contest of the country.

26. NITI Aayog  launched the Ease of Doing Business report based on an Enterprise Survey of 3,500 manufacturing firms across Indian states and union territories

The Survey was released by the Union Minister of Commerce Smt. Nirmala Sitaraman and Minister of Law & Justice and Electronics and Information Technology, Shri Ravishankar Prasad at a function in the capital. The Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, Shri Arvind Panagariya, his successor Rajiv Kumar who assumes office on 1st September, 
  
27. Affordable housing in urban areas is gaining momentum in Uttar Pradesh with the State getting 41,173 more houses sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). 

28. Kerala to host conference of southern state DGPs
The one-day conference, to be attended by Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Lakshadweep besides Kerala and their top state officers, is convened as per the decision of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
